From Tuesday, October 8th, the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup Winner’s Trophy will be on display in the FIFA World Football Museum. For a short period of time it will take the place of the original FIFA Women’s World Cup Trophy, which is on its way to Italy, to be engraved with its latest champion: The USA.
The FIFA Women's World Cup Winner’s Trophy is presented to new World champions immediately after the official closing ceremony, at which the Original Trophy is celebrated with. The winning team gets to keep the Winner’s Trophy - an almost exact replica of the Original Trophy, which is returned to the FIFA World Football Museum showcase after each World Cup.
The trophies can only be distinguished on closer inspection. The Winner’s Trophy is engraved with the name of the winning team immediately after the final, while the Original Trophy bears all previous winners under the base.
The US-Team will be engraved on the Original Trophy for the fourth time after their win in France this summer having previously won in 1991, 1999 and 2015. With four titles, the Americans hold the tournament record for most wins. They have participated in each of the eight FIFA Women’s World Cups since 1991, placing in the top three at every competition.
