A pop-up exhibition, podium discussion, British Comedy Tour, three film evenings and numerous workshops for children and families are among the highlights of the cultural programme at the FIFA World Football Museum in Zurich for October, November and December 2018. More than 40 events on the theme of “Beyond the 90 minutes” are planned for the last quarter of the year.

With arguably the world's biggest individual sporting event now behind us, where better to bring it back to life than at the museum? In our pop-up exhibition entitled JUST ARRIVED! Unboxing the Heritage of Russia 2018 we present the stories and items collected during the Finals and give visitors an insight into how the objects got from the pitch to the museum.
Yet the story of the beautiful game is much more than just a tournament held once every four years. It is a combination of the events that make the headlines and those that take place behind the scenes. That is why the autumn and winter section of our cultural programme focuses on less well-known stories beyond the 90 minutes.
In October the museum plays host to the first highlight of our Football Cinema series with a screening of "Crazy for Football". The film follows a group of Italians who travel to Japan to take part in the World Cup for psychiatric patients. Football offers them a release from the rigid routines of clinic life.
A few days later, we will be running a workshop aimed at children and families based around Martin Helg's book "Champions on the football field – talent, risk and passion". The sport's biggest stars make everything look easy, but their route to the top is a difficult one. The reading reveals how Lionel Messi, Gianluigi Buffon, Ramona Bachmann and other idols followed their own path and what they had to learn along the way.
Among November's highlights is a tour with a difference around the museum's permanent exhibition. British stand-up comedian Ben van der Velde will take visitors on a unique journey through the history of football, mixing humour with a passion for the beautiful game to provide explosive entertainment with a twist at the end.
The popular ANPFIFF series of talks continues in December under the heading "Beyond the 90 minutes: passion, duty or PR?" Personalities from the world of football will discuss how the fruits of the sport's flourishing business can be used wisely, how far the current situation can go, and where the limits are.
Football Cinema also presents the documentary "Les Rebelles du Foot", in which retired football legend Eric Cantona tells the stories of five former professionals who use their fame for good causes. To coincide with Advent, the museum's "Christmas at the Football Laboratory" programme will also give young visitors the chance to get into the festive spirit by making calendars, gifts and cards.
Finally, the FIFA World Football Museum also offers public guided tours of the permanent exhibition that visitors can join at no extra cost every Sunday and a literature consultancy at the museum’s freely accessible library every Friday.
