Each of the nine editions of the FIFA Women’s World Cup has its own showcase, which is framed by one of a series of diverse, colourful and evocative illustrations specially commissioned from renowned artists. These capture the distinctive atmosphere of each tournament and pay tribute to its quirks and compelling plot lines.
The centrepiece of the space remains the FIFA Women’s World Cup Trophy. Fans can also feast their eyes on a wide range of original objects belonging or connected to legendary players like Marta, Carli Lloyd, Birgit Prinz, Sun Wen and Megan Rapinoe, among other star names. Also on display is the trophy that was lifted at the first two editions of the competition.
The FIFA Museum boasts one of the most significant women’s football collections in the world. The revamp and upgrade work within the FIFA World Cup Gallery is a further reflection of the museum’s commitment to championing women’s participation in the beautiful game and increasing the representation of women’s football within its exhibitions. This is in line with the museum’s overarching mission to celebrate the rich heritage of football.
