The European Championship is taking a break, but you can still get your dose of football on our summer terrace. In our «Open Air Football Cinema», we look back at the 1976 European Championship and at a country that no longer exists in its former form.
45 years ago, the Czechoslovakian team became European champions. Many of the older generation still remember the final against Germany and how the ball of Uli Hoeness' missed penalty disappeared into the Belgrade night sky. The CSSR has long since been divided into the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and the former national heroes of the socialist republic now lead quite normal conventional lives. The documentary evokes old memories, asks fans and players about their own experience of the great moment and also ventures a look into the future of Slovakian football.
