Football Fever - Play. Compete. Repeat.
6 December 2024 – 31 August 2025 | ZURICH, SWITZERLAND
The FIFA Museum hosted the exhibition space "Football Fever: Play. Compete. Repeat.", which was open until 31 August 2025. It offered a unique opportunity to experience football in an interactive way and to discover how closely the sport is linked to pop culture.
"Football Fever" focused on the fascinating fusion of football with areas such as toy design, comics, entertainment trends, art and social movements. Visitors were not only able to admire exciting exhibits, but also to get active themselves. There were interactive stations and games that brought to life the many ways in which football had impacted society.
An absolute highlight was the skills.lab Cube, a state-of-the-art interactive installation. This three-metre-high artificial turf cube with 360° display technology allowed visitors to test their own skills such as ball control, passing accuracy and vision right in the museum.
The exhibition also featured a number of unusual objects that illustrated the link between football and pop culture, from a toy set featuring female football stars such as Megan Rapinoe and Sam Kerr to original Captain Tsubasa manga, an AC Milan jersey and a figurine of Dutch legend Ruud Gullit.
"With 'Football Fever', we were telling stories that went far beyond the football pitch," said Marco Fazzone, Managing Director of the FIFA Museum. "The exhibition showed how football had influenced global culture, captured the imagination of children and shaped leisure trends around the world."
Guests were also able to enjoy a range of other games, including football pool, a 1994 FIFA World Cup pinball machine and old and new game consoles. Various games of skill also invited them to experience football in a fun way.
From tabletop games and arcade classics to modern gaming consoles, football has influenced pop culture and the art of play through the decades. The beautiful game is more than a sport – it is a cultural and creative phenomenon that extended far beyond the pitch, embodying the spirit of competition, rivalries and the urge to play just one more round.
"Football Fever" invited visitors to explore how football and entertainment have evolved together, shaping activities and influencing lifestyles.
They stepped into an immersive world where football met fun, skill, creativity and innovation. It challenged them to experience the cycle of play, compete and repeat – where every game led to another, and every match sparked a rematch.
