Uruguay
Uruguay were crowned as the inaugural FIFA World Cup™ champions on home ground in 1930. The victory came off the back of consecutive Olympic titles in 1924 and 1928, and was followed up with a second World Cup victory in 1950 - at the expense of the Brazilian hosts. By population, Uruguay is by far the smallest nation to have lifted the trophy.
