Two more pins for the FIFA Museum Wall of Champions

Player's Voice Panel - FIFA Museum Visit

Every time a FIFA World Cup™ or FIFA Women’s World Cup™ winner visits the FIFA Museum, they are reunited with the trophy they won and get to mark their visit by adding a golden pin to the FIFA Museum Wall of Champions. On Thursday, 24 April 2025, the Wall of Champions gained two more pins – from Briana Scurry, a Women’s World Cup winner with the USA in 1999 and Blaise Matuidi, who won the World Cup with France in 2018. There was even a third world champion present, Aya Miyama, who won the title with Japan in 2011. However, this was her second visit to the FIFA Museum, so her pin was already on the Wall of Champions.

The trio were part of a group of former internationals who were in Zurich for a meeting at the Home of FIFA of the Players’ Voice Panel, established as a result of the global stand against racism. Players’ voice, part of the five pillars outlined at the 74th FIFA Congress, is a crucial tool to fight racism and can make a telling difference in educating girls and boys from a very young age.

After the panel was finished, the three world champions took the opportunity to visit the FIFA Museum together with fellow former players Mercy Akide-Udoh (Nigeria), Lotta Schelin (Sweden), Maia Jackman (New Zealand), Jessica Houara-d’Hommeaux (France) and Juan Pablo Sorín (Argentina). The group were treated to a tour of the permanent exhibition, during which they all enjoyed seeing objects or memorabilia from their respective careers.

The highlight of the tour came at the FIFA World Cup Gallery, where the three world champions were reunited with the trophies they won, and the two first time visitors got to add a golden pin to the Wall of Champions. As the tour took place during normal opening hours, the regular museum visitors made the most of the chance to take pictures with the former players and ask for autographs. Meanwhile, all the guests also signed the museum guestbook.
